Last day of the advent exchange

Sunday, December 25, 2011 Edit This 0 Comments »
So the day has come - 25th December - the big reveal:

The paper has been ripped off and there's a beautiful, glittery gift box standing in front of me:

I open it up...

*sniff, sniff* what's this? The unmistakable smell of...

Yes!! It is - LUSH ballistics!

Moll is very happy

Thank you to Maddy for being my partner!

Christmas Eve

Hurrah, Christmas Eve.

I opened up the penultimate exchange pressie today, and it was this beautiful necklace:

I also had a couple of stitchy gifts under the tree, this was from Sarah for the Christmas ornie exchange - I think it's simply stunning. Stitched on glitter fabby and with metallics:

And then this was a gift from Maria as a thanks for organising UFO night - how beautiful is this! And they both know me well as they are both music related :)

Secrets round up

Through the year there's always a few finishes that I can't show as they were going to be gifts, but now  - at Christmas - all is revealed, and here they are:

First this is a small plant sign that I made for my dear friend Colly. She and hubby Richard both love their garden, so I thought it was apt. Finished 2nd Feb 2011

Pic to come

Then this is my offering for this years Stitch Factor. It's first part of a triptych by Derwentwater - it's called  Mountain Pines. Finished 31st May 2011

From 2011

Then comes an ornie that I stitched for my friend Maria - who I partnered for in the Advent exchange - it was a gift on one of the last days before Christmas. Finished 5th Aug 2011

From 2011

Here is my small Christmas gift for Colly this year - it's a needle book - the design featured in Gift of Stitching. Finished 5th Aug 2011.

From 2011

This piece is called Make a wish and was stitched for a very good friends baby quilt - a quilt put together by all sorts that friends have made using all sorts of crafts. It was actually a cover kit originally. Finished 4th November 2011.

From 2011

This final piece is called Christmas Butterfly and was my offering for this year's Christmas ornie exchange on ACN. It was a fun, different, but very hard piece to stitch. It's a 3D piece with a clip, so each wing had to be stitched twice and was stitched on plastic canvas with metallic thread - phew! Got there in the end though and it looks bloomin' brilliant I think. Finished 2nd December 2011.

New piece for UFO night. I just couldn't face Cirque des Cercles again yet, so have picked up something else. It is a UFO, but I didn't get very far on it when I started. I am also running out of UFOs (which is a good thing of course), so here goes.

This is Honour Thy Needle by Twisted Oaks Designs. This will become a pyramid for keeping my stitchy tools in. It's stitched on hand dyed fabby and with Dinky Dyes silk threads - which is very nice!

Christmas Calendar

Sunday, October 23, 2011 Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »
Hurrah - I have finished the Christmas Calendar UFO. This was an inherited piece from a friend of my mum's and a bit of nightmare when I first started working on it - she stitches her crosses the other direction  so I had to work on it sideways. Also the chart was probably the worst I have ever worked off, but all is forgotten now - cause it's done!! Finished 21st October 2011

So this is the top design

And this is the whole piece - when I first started on it:

Sheep... remember this

Monday, October 10, 2011 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
I finished most of this for a friend almost a year ago, and she was meant to finish the sheep facing us herself, but I just visited her and she still hadn't done it so I said I would - didn't take me long at all. I think it's such a cool, fun and sweet design, but I would never stitch it again - all that white!! I will frame it for them now and it will be my Christmas pressie for them.

Joy to the world

Sunday, October 09, 2011 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
My October Christmas finish. A LHN design stitched for the director of A Christmas Carol that I am acting in this Christmas (as the song Joy to the world is an important part of the play).
Finished 2nd October 2011

Twelve Days of Christmas... again

Monday, September 26, 2011 Posted In Edit This 1 Comment »

Finally got back to this. Have found the first of four stitchy friends to finish the remaining squares. Will hand it over when I go to Blighty nest weekend, so will try to do as much as I can to finish off the old squares before then. This is "my own" square. Haven't quite decided how to word this one yet - whether to put I, myself, Moll... 23rd September 2011

The Canterbury Bell Fairy

Wednesday, August 10, 2011 Posted In Edit This 0 Comments »
Bells that ring from ancient towers-
Canterbury Bells-
Give their name to summer flowers-
Canterbury Bells!
Do the flower-fairies, playing,
Know what those great bells are saying?
Fairy, in your purple hat,
Little fairy, tell us that!

"Naught I know of bells in towers-
Canterbury Bells!
Mine are pink or purple flowers-
Canterbury Bells!
When I set them all a-swaying,
Something, too, my bells are saying,
Can't you hear them--ding-dong- ding--
Calling fairy-folk to sing?

This was originally a cover kit, but I stitched it over one on 25 count which makes it really small and pretty. It's only about 2 inches by 2 inches.

This is a close up of the top design, which is what I will be showing from now on until it's done:

I realised that I had forgotten to post my last UFO post before the summer break, so here is also the piece after the 22nd June:
