My Piece for the 2012 Christmas, and my first finish of 2013.
A design by my beloved friend Colly of Cols Creations. I did a slight change and made the charted crosses in the first band into stars, as I'm not the religious type. I also used the DMC threads I had in my stash instead of the Anchor ones that the chart called for, but I still think it turned out very nice. This pic is pre-wash & iron, but you get the idea.

This is Blackwork Chessboard. It's a design by Anne MacGregor from the stitch mag "Cross Stitch Gold". In the original design there's black and gold metallic in all the squares, but I wilm stick to black in the squares and consider adding another metallic colour around them when I'm done. Seems more clean to me.

The Canterbury Bell Fairy

Bells that ring from ancient towers-
Canterbury Bells-
Give their name to summer flowers-
Canterbury Bells!
Do the flower-fairies, playing,
Know what those great bells are saying?
Fairy, in your purple hat,
Little fairy, tell us that!
"Naught I know of bells in towers-
Canterbury Bells!
Mine are pink or purple flowers-
Canterbury Bells!
When I set them all a-swaying,
Something, too, my bells are saying,
Can't you hear them --ding-dong-ding--
Calling fairy-folk to sing?
As you probably know I love the Flower Fairies. Have now decided to make a quilt of them all when I have enough, so will start collecting.

Well, I have finally had another finish. They seem to be few and far between this year, but I am doing just as much stitching - I just seem to be into doing bigger pieces atm, not all the little ones in between that I usually do. I stitched this for some friends that are having a baby girl any day now. I remember Sarah Kay designs from when I was a kid and just adore them. I stitched it on Blueberry hand dyed Jobelan (does look quite grey on the pic, but is very pretty lilac with pink bits irl) - 28 count and will probably frame it. Thanks for looking.
